Mars City Alpha (NASA) is a space/science project created by the Challenger Center. NASA supplied guidelines and we obtained computer-aided design (CAD) software from a regional software company (Advanced Relational Technologies, Coeur d’Alene, ID). The goal was to design a 1:30 scale colony to hold 25colonists; and to house five units consisting of: Control Center (CC), Controlled Enviroment and Life Support (CELS), Habitat Support (HS), Health and Recreation (HAR), Science and Technology (SAT). In order to utilize CAD we proceeded via doing simple handsketches of homes, followed by CAD of student rooms at home and lastly by usind CAD to construct Mars City Alpha.
